MLB Prospect Tracker Week 3
Aaron Parke
Parker had a solid opening day walking three times. In his two games last week, he walked twice again. Swinging the bat, he struggled a bit going 1-7 with 3 strikeouts. Some positives, but also some strikeout concerns.
Adrian Santana
Santana pretty much matched his first week stats going 3-11 again with a walk. Consistently putting the ball in play and not striking out. He is still pulling the ball a lot (47%), but his numbers are solid.
Aidan Miller
Miller is still out with his back injury. Still no update on a timetable. There was hope that he started swinging a bat, but that was walked back by the organization.
Aidan Smith- Smith is still dealing with some injury concerns and has not made his season debut. He is still not officially listed on the injury list, but no appearances yet.
Alex Clemmey
Clemmey looked much better in his second start. He pitched 3.1 and recorded 4 strikeouts. He did allow a home run, but only 1 run and 2 hits overall. The positive sign was he threw more strikes. 5 walks in his season debut, was dropped to 2 walks this time out. That is a good sign as his biggest weakness was his struggle to throw strikes.
Alexander Albertus
Albertus is still recovering from a serious leg injury last year. There seems to be a very encouraging update this week as he is nearing a return. The hope is for him to return to an affiliate by the end of the month.
Arjun Nimmala
Nimmala got off to a great start, but he returned to Earth this week. He was 3-22 with 8 strikeouts. He did hit 2 doubles and drew 5 walks. Rough week swinging the bat, but he walked four times in his last game, so hopefully he is breaking out of the slump.
Bairon Ledesma
Rookie ball has not started yet, but Ledesma will return there and hope it is a quick pit stop.
Ben Hess
After an impressive season debut, Hess struggled with his command in his second start. While he only allowed 1 hit and run, he walked 5 batters and was limited to 2.2 innings. His ground ball rate is still elite and he is forcing a lot of hitters to roll over balls. Hopefully just a bad day on the mound, as he has shown the ability to be a consistent strike thrower.
Bernard Moon
Moon had a great first week, but has struggled since. He went 5-30 with 11 strikeouts. He also only drew 3 walks. Rough week, but he should bounce back.
Billy Amick
Amick had another very solid week going 6-24 with a home run. The one concern is he did strikeout 10 times. Still showing signs, but a lot of room for growth.
Blake Burke
Burke had another really good week hitting 3 more home runs. Overall, he went 8-25. 7 strikeouts is still a slight concern, but the power is fully on display. Should he keep this up, triple A should be his new home soon.
Blake Wright
Wright is still out with an injury and there has been no update just yet. Originally placed on the 7-day injury list. That time has come and gone, and there has been no reported progress yet. Hopefully there is good news soon.
Braden Montgomery
Montgomery showed his power this week, but his strikeout issue was also fully on display with 7 in 24 at bats. Overall, he went 5-24 and did draw 3 walks. His last game was hopefully his breakout. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and no strikeouts. His strikeout issues are the only thing holding him back from being in triple A.
Brody Hopkins
Hopkins has looked really good this year, but is still walking way too many batters. In his last start, he pitched 5 innings. Allowing 4 hits but only 2 runs. The 5 walks allowed is a real problem though. While it did not hurt him here, that will not work in the big leagues. It is all about him throwing strikes consistently. His stuff is good, but his command is a real problem. If he cannot work on mechanical issues, the bullpen may be where he ends up.
Brooks Brannon
Brannon is still working on returning from hamate surgery, but he has started lightly swinging the bat. This is a good update as he hopes for a late April/early May return.
Bryce Cunningham
Cunningham is still out with arm soreness. No update yet, but he should have a quick ramp up once he is cleared to go.
Bryce Eldridge- Eldridge had a great week going 9-14 with a home run and 2 doubles. Strikeouts are still a big problem though as he had 6 in that span. The young lefty has a real problem with swing and miss, but when he connects, he hits the ball very hard.
Bryce Rainer
Rainer had a better week at the plate going 6-19 with his first home run of the year. The problem was he struck out 9 times over that span. He is still working back from his injury and will hope to improve the strikeout rate as it is currently at 44%.
Braylon Payne
Payne had a rough start to the week, but has been out of the lineup for the last 4 games. He went 3-13 with 7 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Does not seem to be hurt, but no word is out on the reason for his absence.
Boston Bateman
Bateman made his second appearance but came out of the bullpen. He unfortunately got lit up. Allowing 4 hits, 1 walk, and 5 runs in 1.2 innings. He did strikeout 4 batters, but it was a brutal day at the office for him. The positive note is that his FIP is still 2.54 so fielding behind him is not helping him much.
Cam Caminiti
Caminiti had a rough season debut, but showed growth in his second start. Pitching 5 innings and striking out 6 batters. He also did not surrender a walk which is impressive. The problem is he got hit hard, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs (2 earned). The young lefty will look to keep developing.
Carson Benge
Benge has shown some life after a brutal start. While the numbers are still ugly, he did record hits in 3 straight games. He went 3-14 with 2 walks and only 3 strikeouts. He has also been a plus baserunner and defender. He made an incredible play against the A’s, laying out to make a diving catch to save 2 runs in a 1-0 loss. He should start hitting soon as he seems to have found his legs at the plate.
Carson DeMartini
DeMartini had a rough first three games of the week, going 0-11 with 7 strikeouts. Over the next two games, he went 4-8 with a homerun and no strikeouts. This could spark a good stretch at the plate as he looks to bounce back from a truly brutal start to his season.
Carter Johnson
Johnson is still struggling despite showing some flashes. Defensively, he has already made 3 errors at shorts/second. At the plate, he went 4-16 with 7 strikeouts. 3 walks is a positive note,
Carter Mathison
2026 has been a nightmare for Mathison so far. He went 1-12 this week with 9 strikeouts this week. Truly struggling to even make contact. He has been good at the field, but that is not going to get him promoted.
Casey Cook
Cook is still out with an injury and on the 60-day injured list.
Charlee Soto
Soto is still on the injured list as of this time. The goal is for him to return to high A in May.
Chase Harlan
Harlan is off to a great start. After a very good first week, he picked up right where he left off this week. Harlan went 5-14 with a homerun. 4 walks and only 4 strikeouts in that span is also very promising. If he keeps this up, high A should be calling soon.
Chris Cortez
Cortez struggled with his command in his season debut, and this continued in his second stary. He pitched 4.1 and walked 5 batters. He also allowed 5 hits but was able to limit the damage to just 3 runs. He needs to throw strikes our he will continue to struggle.
Cobb Hightower
Hightower is one of the hottest hitters in low A to start the season. After a great first week, he had been just as good this week. He went 7-16 with only 3 strikeouts. He only walked once, but he has found a way to be on base in almost half of his at bats without walking.
Cole Fontenelle
Fontenelle is still on the injured list and there has been no update as of now. He should return to the field soon though.
Cole Carrigg
Carrigg had another really solid week. He hit 9-26 with a triple, double, and 7 runs scored. He only has 5 strikeouts as well, so a very solid week. Carrigg also stole 4 bases and was a huge problem for opposing teams.
Cole Mathis
Mathis has another solid week. Slow start hitting, but he walked 4 times in three games which made up for going 0-9. In the next three games, he went 5-11 with 2 doubles, a walk, and a homerun. 6 strikeouts overall is not terrible, but there is definitely room for improvement.
Cole Messina
After a solid start to the season, Messina had another rough week. He went 3-21 5 strikeouts. He went hitless in four of six games. Some positives were that he drew 4 walks, stole 3 bases, and only struck out 5 times.
Colt Emerson
After a solid start, Emerson has continued playing at a similar level. He went 6-23 this week with 2 doubles and walks. The strikeout rate is still a concern though, as he struck out 7 times. A 31% strikeout rate will keep him in triple A.
Cooper Pratt
Pratt had another rough week at the plate, going 1-13. The positive is he only struck out once. Pratt is likely a long-term shortstop on the big-league club, but he will have to find his bat.
Colin Houck
Houck had another rough week at the plate going 2-16 with 9 strikeouts. He did walk 4 times which is a positive. He continues to swing and miss and this has been a problem for his whole career.
Dillon Head
Dillon has really struggled to start the season. After a hitless first week, he finally recorded his first hit. For the week, he went 1-14 with 3 strikeouts. His strikeout rate is average, he is not making good contact resulting in a 75% ground ball rate.
Dylan Dreiling
Dreiling is off to an incredible start in double A and is looking to make this a quick stop. After a solid first week, he was even better this week. Going 8-23 with a homerun, double, and 4 walks. Only 5 strikeouts as well, so he showed a ton of improvement from last week.
Echedry Vargas
Vargas had a very rough start to the week, going 0-6 through 3 games. He then went 3-4 with a double. The last game was another hitless night (0-3) but he did walk once. Signs of life after a brutal 4 games.
Eddie Rynders
After a rough first two games, Rynders has continues to struggle to make contact. He went 3-19 with 13 strikeouts, A 64% strikeout rate is borderline unplayable.
Eduardo Quintero
Quintero had a brutal week at the plate. Going 1-20 with 5 strikeouts. He walked twice, but that does not help his line.
Eduardo Tait
Tait got off to a rough start but has turned it around this week. He went 5-17 with 4 walks and has reached base in all 5 games (one hit in four of them). Still striking out a little too much, but showed growth.
Ethan Anderson
Anderson had a fantastic week after coming out slow in the first two games. Walk rate dropped a bit, but it is still elite. He went 9-16 with a home run, 3 walks, and only 3 strikeouts. Anderson will likely not be in double A for long if he keeps this up.
Engelth Urena
Urena is still struggling at the plate after an 0-10 start. He went 3-16 this week with 7 strikeouts. He did draw 5 walks which is encouraging. He has been walking a lot, but he is not really hitting.
Fenwick Trimble
Trimble had a brutal week going 1-18 at the plate with 7 strikeouts. He did draw four walks and steal four bases, but he has not hit.
Franklin Arias
Arias has been incredible to start the season. Over his last 5 games, he is 8-13 with 2 doubles, and 5 RBIS. He has also drawn two walks while only striking out twice. He has also looked great at short.
George Wolkow
Wolkowhad a solid first week and followed that up with another one. He went 4-19 with 2 doubles, and 3 walks. The concern is there is a lot of swing and miss in his game, because 8 strikeouts is not going to work.
Hyun-Seok Jang
Still no season debut for Jang yet. No update since last week either.
Ivan Luciano
It has been a really tough stretch to open the season for Luciano at the plate. He went 2-14 over the week with 5 strikeouts. The biggest concern is the lack of walks. He is a career 16% walk rate player who is currently a 4%.
Jack Penney
Penney is still on the 60-day IL, but hopes to report to double A once healthy.
Jackson Ferris
Ferris had a tough season debut, and the struggle carried into his second start. Command was a real problem as he walked four batters in three innings. He also allowed 4 hits (1 homerun) and 4 runs. Brutal night on the mound for the top 100 prospect.
Jacob Cozart
After a hot opening week, Cozart returned to Earth this week and struggled. He went 0-11 with 3 strikeouts. He did walk twice, but that was the only success. He should bounce back quick.
Jaison Chourio
Chourio has had mixed results to start the season. He has been an extra base machine who has 5 doubles. This week he went 5-23 with 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. The walk rate is impressive early and the strikeout rate is equal. He has also shown his speed on the bases stealing 4 bases. A lot of tools, but he is very raw.
Jared Serna
After an 0-12 start, Serna has fully turned it around. He is 11 for his last 31 with a double and 5 steals. He has torn the cover off the ball as of late and if he keeps this up, Miami could be calling soon.
Jared Sundstrom
Sundstrom has a nightmare week unfortunately. He had no hits in 17 at bats. 6 strikeouts is a little rough, but not terrible. His BABIP is .277 which suggests some bad luck. His line drive rate has been elite, but 25% of his fly balls do not make it out of the infield. This is the biggest problem. 34% of his at bats are automatic outs.
Jared Thomas
Thomas is still recovering from his hamate surgery but should return soon. No big updates yet, but he will be back.
Jay Beshears
Beshears had a rough week, but only played in three games. Overall, he went 1-11 with 5 strikeouts. Really rough stretch, but it is a very small sample size.
JD Dix
Dix has a rough first week, and the struggles continued. He went 2-21 with 6 strikeouts. Rough start but he should turn it around soon.
Jeral Perez
After a good start, he continued this week. For the week, he went 5-19 with only 3 strikeouts. While his power has not shown up just yet, it will return.
Jeremy Rodriguez
Rodriguez is still on the injured list but hopes to return soon. No update on his return yet, but likely soon.
Jesus Made
After an impressive first week, Made continued to rake this week. He went 9-24 with 2 triples, a double, 5 walks, and only 5 strikeouts. Another strong showing that will help him continue to build confidence.
Joe Vetrano
After a promising start, Vetrano had another strong week. He went 6-21 with 6 walks. The concern is that he struck out nine times. If he can lower the strikeout rate, his numbers will continue to improve.
Joendry Vargas
Vargas had another solid week but is still striking out too much. He went 4-17 with 2 doubles and a walk. 5 strikeouts is the problem which is hurting his numbers. At least one strikeout in every game makes it tough to find sustained success.
John Spikerman
Spikerman missed the first week, but returned to game acting on April 10th. His is 6-14 with hits in each of his first three games. Only 2 strikeouts overall so far which is solid. His last game was hopefully a sign of what is to come. He went 4-6 with 2 RBIS, a stolen base, and a walk. Impressive start that will lead to a promotion if he can sustain it.
Jonathon Long
Long continues to rake and is doing what he can to earn a promotion. While he has not hit for power, he is hitting .321 through 56 at bats. Last week he went 7-22 with only 5 strikeouts. Solid week, and his long ball power should show soon.
Jonny Farmelo
Farmelo has struggled at the plate but has shown some flashes. Over the last week, he is 4-20 with 2 home runs. He has struck out 6 times, but also walked 5 times. Seems he is poised to break out of this slump soon.
Jose Fernandez
While Fernandez has not hit a homerun since his historic debut, he has been very good at the plate. This week was another good one, hitting 10-24. He did strikeout 8 times, but overall, he had a very good week.
Joshua Kuroda-Grauer
Grauer had a very solid week showing power that has not been seen from him yet in his career. He went 8-31 with his second home run of the year. He did strikeout 4 times, which is unusual for him, but it was still a solid week. If he keeps building off this, a promotion should come soon.
Josue De Paula
De Paula had another really good week at the plate. He went 9-27 with his first homerun of the season. He also hit 4 doubles and walked twice. He did strikeout 6 times, but it did not really hurt his performance.
Juan Baez
Baez had a great week at the plate, He went 5-13 with a walk and only 2 strikeouts. A strong start to his season that he hopes to sustain and earn a promotion.
Juan Flores
Flores had a really tough week at the plate. Through the first four games, he went 0-15 with 4 strikeouts. His last game hopefully will be his breakout as he went 2-3 with a walk, double and 2RBIS. A huge bounce back performance for the young catcher.
Kash Mayfield
Mayfield had another impressive short start this week. While he only pitched 4 innings, he did not allow a hit again. 3 walks is a little concerning, but he has been very solid early.
Kelvin Hidalgo
Hidalgo started the season really struggling, but he had a great week. He went 7-17 with a home run and 3 walks. He only struck out once and showed a great approach at the plat. He hopes to build off his 3-4 performance in his last name and add to his modest 5-game hitting streak.
Kavares Tears
After a hitless first two games, Tears had a very solid bounce back week. He went 6-22 with 3 doubles, and 5 walks. He did strike out 8 times, bout outside of that, showed improvement. He will need to limit the strikeouts so he can really unlock his best power.
Khadim Diaw
After a hot start, Diaw struggled with strikeouts this week. Striking out 13 times in 24 at bats. He recorded 4 hits overall including his first homerun of the season. Hopefully just a rough week with his last game being the end of the slump (0-4 4 strikeouts).
Kevin McGonigle
McGonigle is one of the top bats in the league already and has continues to hit. This week, he went 8-21 with 2 walks and only 2 strikeouts. He also hit his first career home run and 2 doubles. Another very solid week for the rookie of the year favorite.
Kyle DeBarge
DeBarge had a solid start to the season, but really had a brutal series against Arkansas. He went 3-23 with 10 strikeouts in a truly forgettable stretch. For the week, he did have walk 5 times which was a positive to take out of this stretch.
Kyle Henley
After a rough first three games, Henley started to show some life at the plate. He went 6-21 with 6 stolen bases. The strikeouts are still an issue though, as he had 10 over that span. A lot of positives, but still a big red flag on his ability to put the ball in play.
Leo De Vris
The big-time prospect had an incredible week for and bounced back from a slow first three games. He went 12-29 with 2 homeruns, a double, and 3 stolen bases. He only struck out 6 times, which helped him put up such solid numbers.
Lisbel Diaz
Diaz missed some games but returned to play in the last game of the week. He went 0-3 with a walk. Not much to recap here, since there is only one game for the week.
Luis Almeyda
Almeyda started to find some success at the end of last week and carried it into this week. He went 5-21with a double. He only struck out 3 times and consistently put the ball in play. He is still a very raw hitter with a lot of room for growth. He is making the best quality contact of his career and is starting to look much better.
Luis Baez
Baez is truly struggling at the plate and has not turned it around. He went 3-20 this week. He only struck out twice, which is a positive, but outside of that, there is nothing else positive happening. The 20-home run hitter may never return to form.
Luke Adams
Adams had a very solid week going 5-19 with a double, and 3 walks. He only struck out 4 times, which was also solid. No homeruns after hitting 2 last week, but he found some consistency at the plat.
Max Clark
Clark has been very good so far and had another solid week. He went 10-29 with 2 doubles and a triple. He walked 4 times while only striking out 5 times. Another solid week as he tried to position himself for a call up.
Marvin Alcantara
Alcantara has really struggled early. After a rough three games, he has 2 hits in 18 at bats and 6 strikeouts. His walk rate is above average so far, which is a good sign. Not a lot of solid contact early though, which is a big concern. Defensively, he has seen innings at short, second, and third.
Nate Nankil
Nankil was off to a brutal start before getting injured. He is currently on the 7-day injured list. When he returns, hopefully he can figure it out.
Nathan Flewelling
Another strong week for Flewelling. He went 6-16 with a homerun, triple, and 2 walks. He did strikeout 5 times but still posted impressive numbers.
Nick McLain
McLain is on the 60-day injured list and will not play for some time.
Nick Mitchell
Mitchell had another solid week. He went 6-27 with 5 walks. He did strikeout 8 times which is not great. It was a solid week overall though.
Nick Morabito
Morabito had another solid week after a hot start. He went 6-20 with a homerun. He did strikeout 7 times, which is not great. He will continue to improve as he adjusts to triple A.
PJ Morlando
Morlando had a very solid week recoding at least one hit in five of seven games played. Overall, he went 6-25 with a double and 2 walks. He did strikeout 6 times which is a little concerning, but this should improve as he continues to develop.
Ramon Ramirez
Overall, Ramirez has gotten off to a very solid start. There are a lot of positives (6-23 with a home run and 2 doubles), and some negatives (6 strikeouts). He has struck out in five of his six games played so far. As he continues to adjust to a new level of pitching, he should excel.
Rikuu Nishida
Another solid week for the contact hitting infielder. He went 6-23 with 3 doubles, and 6 walks. He did strikeout four times and this was out of character for him. Doubt this is a big issue as he has proven to be one of the toughest strikeouts in minor league baseball.
Robert Calaz
Calaz is putting up impressive numbers so far, but there is a big strikeout problem. For the week, he went 6-24 with 3 walks and 3 doubles. The concern is that he struck out 12 times. He had 3 strikeouts in multiple games. Look for this to improve as he adjusts to high A pitching, as he has shown flashes early.
Romeo Sanabria
After a rough first few games, Sanabria has started to turn it around. For the week, he went 6-28 with a home run and 2 doubles. The problem is he is striking out too much still. He struck out eight times for the week and this is hurting his numbers and limiting his production.
Ryan Campos
Campos had an overall rough week, but did still walk six times. The 7 strikeouts is a real problem though and are one of the main factors for his early struggles. He has two hits in 18 at bats this week which is rough. He will need to stop striking out of the struggles will continue.
Ryan Sloan
Sloan had a better showing in his second start. He only pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits and 2 runs (1 earned). He struck out 4, but did allow 2 walks. Some growth, but still a long way to go.
Sam Antonacci
Antonacci is a fast-rising prospect who is likely to be in the majors very soon. He has been incredible at the plate but the field is still a work in progress. He was moved to left field as it was his quickest path up and while he has not made any errors, he did have a dangerous collision with his teammate and thankfully avoided injury. At the plate this week, he went 6-22 with 7 walks. He struck out 5 times and this is really not a problem as he was on base a ton.
Sean Keys
Keys had another strong week at the plate, but his defense has been the keynote so far. His biggest weakness was in the field, and so far, he has 0 errors in 65 innings (23 chances) between third and first base. This is what he needs to continue to be promoted. At the plate, he went 8-26 with 2 homeruns, 3 doubles, and 2 walks. The strikeout rate is a little high, but it has not really hurt his numbers much as of yet.
Seaver King
King had a rough first week but looks to have figured it out this week. He is 8-25 with his first homerun of the season and 3 doubles. He did strikeout 7 times, but he also has drawn 6 walks. Really solid week for the young shortstop.
Sebastian Walcott
Walcott is basically out for the season, but may find a way back for the end if rehab goes well.
Sheng-En Lin
Lin bounced back after a rough first start and impressed. He pitched 5 hitless innings and only walked 2 hitters. This was a major step in the right direction for the first-year full time pitcher.
Slade Caldwell
Caldwell had a rough week after a hot start. He went 2-14 with 4 strikeouts. Rough week at the plate, but this should not continue for long.
Spencer Nivens
Nivens is still on the injured list, but looks to hopefully start ramping up soon.
Tai Peete
After a brutal start, Peete has really turned it on. He went 6-17 with a homerun. He did still strikeout six times, which is a real concern, but he has started to turn it around.
Thayron Liranzo
Liranzo is still ramping up from his injury to return, but hopes to be back soon.
Theo Gillen
Gillen had a very solid week at the plater going 7-21 with 4 homeruns and 8 RBIS. He did strikeout seven times, but 3 of those came in in his last game after five really good ones. A very good week for the young outfielder.
Travis Bazzana
Bazzana had a solid week to build on, but still struck out a bit more than the organization is looking for. He went 8-28 with 5 walks. He struck out seven times and this was a bit disappointing.
Travis Honeyman
Honeyman had another solid week where he only struck out twice. He went 6-19 with 3 walks as well. The team is hoping to see him start hitting for some power, but he has not yet.
Ty Southisene
Southisene is one of the best contact bats in the minors and had another really solid week. He went 6-21 with a triple, and 5 stolen bases. He only struck out three times as well which is really impressive.
Tyson Lewis
After a brutal first week full of strikeouts, Lewis has started to put it all together. He went 5-24 with 3 walks. He started the week 6 strikeouts in four games, but finished the week with no strikeouts in his last two games. Hopefully this carries over.
Walker Jenkins
Jenkins looks to have finally started to return to form after a brutal first week. He went 5-15 with 4 walks and only 3 strikeouts. If he can sustain this and start to hit for some power, the Twins should call him up.
Yeremi Cabrera
Cabrera had an incredible week after a rough first three games. He went 12-28 with 2 homeruns, 2 triples, 2 doubles, and 4 walks. The most impressive part is that he did not strikeout once in seven games. High A should see him soon.
Yoelin Cespedes
Cespedes got off to a red-hot start but had a rough week. He went 3-21 with 11 strikeouts. We noted that his strikeouts last week were concerning, and they really came back to bite him this week. He did walk 4 times at least, so it was not all negative.
Yoffry Solano
Solano has not yet debuted since complex ball has not started, but he will be on the field soon.
Yohandy Morales
After two disappointing weeks, Morales has a very solid week. He went 8-23 with 2 walks. He did strikeout 9 times which is a huge concern, since he has not hit for much power. He does seem to be making better contact of late though, so the power numbers should come.
Yolfran Castillo
Castillo had a solid week and showed his potential. While his strikeout rate is very high currently (30%), it is a very small sample size. This week, he is 7-26 with 2 doubles and 5 walks. The downside is that he had 8 strikeouts. He seems to be adjusting to low A still and he is only 19. He should continue to improve as he sees more game action.
Zander Mueth
Meuth had another really tough start this week. He only pitched 2.1 and allowed 6 hits, 4 runs, and walked 4 batters. A really tough day at the ballpark. After two stinkers, there is only room for improvement.
Zyhir Hope
Hope got off to a slow start but had a great week. He went 8-25 with his first 2 homeruns of the season. He walked 3 times but did strikeout 7 times. Hope has a ton of potential and seems to have found his footing.
MLB
Agustin Ramirez
Ramirez has started to really break out at the plate and had a really solid week where he finally hit his first homerun of the season. He went 10-33 with only 5 strikeouts. The key for him is to keep the strikeout rate low because he has so much power and hits the ball very hard.
Brice Matthews
Matthews has not hit in the majors at all. While his playing time is limited, he has not taken advantage of it. In three games this week, he is 1-7 with 3 strikeouts. Cannot see him sticking in the majors for much longer if this continues.
Caleb Durbin
Durbin’s brutal season has continued this week in a rough showing. He is 3-23 with 3 strikeouts. While he is not striking out a lot, he is not getting on base at all. Really bad start for the new Boston third baseman.
Cam Smith
Smith had an incredible week last week, but returned to Earth this week. He is 726 with 2 doubles and no walks. He has only struck out 6 times though which is a good sign. He looks comfortable and much improved from last year.
Carson Williams
Williams has been solid since being optioned back to the minors. In his first week back down, he is 6-26 with 2 homeruns. 6 strikeouts is a concern, but he is hitting the ball well overall.
Christian Moore
Moore has struggled overall but had a better week. He is 4-18 with 7 walks and 6 strikeouts. He has not hit a homerun, but he does have 2 doubles and a triple. Starting to find his footing again, but there is still a long way to go before he finds his way back to the Angels.
Colson Montgomery
Montgomery is having a really rough start to the season and this week did not help. He is 4-24 with 6 strikeouts. He did hit a homerun and a double, but outside of that, it has been ugly.
Dalton Rushing
Rushing only played in one game this week and went 1-4 with a double. He did strikeout twice, but it was his first game in 6 days.
Jac Caglianone
Caglianone had a rough week after a strong showing last week. Overall, he went 2-16 with 8 strikeouts. A rough showing, but he will bounce back. Still looking for his first homerun of the season.
Jonah Tong
Tong had another stinker in his last start and got hit around. In 4.2 innings, he allowed 5 hits (2 homeruns), 6 runs and walked three hitters. Another rough start. He did strike out seven batters, but got hit really hard.
Kristian Campbell
Campbell had a really solid week and showed signs of breaking out of his long-term slump. He went 6-18 with 2 doubles. Only 4 strikeouts over that span while walking 3 times. Solid stretch that he hopes to sustain.
Kyle Teel
Teel is progressing well from his hamstring injury and they say he is ahead of schedule. He hopes to start rehab games soon with a late April/early May return to the bigs.
Nick Kurtz
Kurtz is still having a tough time at the plate, but he had some big moments this week. Overall, he went 7-28 with his first homerun of the season and a double. The problem is that he struck out 13 times in that span. He did draw 7 walks which is a good sign, but the strikeouts are a real problem.
Marcelo Mayer
Mayer has struggled all year and this week was a continuation of that. He went 3-15 but only struck out twice while walking 3 times. Some positive signs in what has been a forgettable start.
Matt Shaw
Shaw looked to have started to put it all together, but had a rough go this week. He went 3-17 with 6 strikeouts. If he can return to his level of play from last week, he will be fine.
Roman Anthony
Roman Anthony is struggling at the plate and needs to turn it around. He has struggled overall, but has stacked together two solid games in a row. After a 1-16 start to the week5 strikeouts and 4 walks, he is 3-5 with a double 2 more walks and a hit by pitch. He is starting to find his swing again.
Samuel Basallo
Basallo has continued to struggle this week going 2-17 in the first five games. His last game of the week may be what he needed to turn it around though. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. This could be a great turning point for what has been a nightmare start to the season.
Trey Yesavage
Yesavage is actively rehabbing now and looks to be back with in Toronto soon. Should it continue to go well, he could be activated by the end of April.
