About

What is Behind the Coaching?

Behind the Coaching is more than a website, we’re a community of writers and sports fans who want to share the spotlight and give credit to the coaches in our sports. Coaching lays the foundation and builds structure for teams, players, and programs, how do they do that? Read and find out through our coverage of several sports across multiple competitive levels.

How Behind the Coaching was Started

“Behind the Coaching started as a personal blog for me to share information about NBA coaching staffs to fans of teams who weren’t aware of their experience, systems, and role within the team. Only a few weeks in writing these articles about the NBA, there were other sports that could have used the same knowledge with their fanbases. After onboarding our first couple of writers, they immediately made an impact on writing about the MLB and NFL, which not only benefited the fans’ interest, but also their own portfolios and journalism career. Using the experience, they learn and gain with Behind the Coaching, it became clear to me that this was no longer a normal blog, it was a difference maker for our team, the fans, and the coaches and athletes we feature on our site.

Every single person plays a role in our sports, and we want to prove that by highlighting, writing, and interviewing anyone and everyone we can to share our appreciation and gratitude, without them, our athletes wouldn’t have grown up with sports, our coaches wouldn’t have found careers in teaching and mentoring those athletes, and our fans wouldn’t have the enjoyment and opportunity to support those who work hard and demonstrate teamwork to accomplish their goals in winning and growing.”
